Yep, it's been a while since I've fired up a blog. You never know what will spark de ol' synapses -- a smell, a memory, maybe just the crush and spray of the sea on your face on an overcast and otherwise ordinary day. Before you wonder if perhaps I've finally taken a seven pound coconut impact to the head, I'll tell you that I'm really no more daft than ever.

Missed you my friends! There. That's a truth.

Lotta strife out there in the big ol' world, ain't there? People swinging their angst like a daggar whistling through the air; people afraid, and these days the enemy is a gossamer haint that might just be echoes still bouncing the walls of the canyons of somebody's youth. Remember Pogo? Yeah, you're old. I remember Pogo too. Pogo wasn't afraid to live.

[Insert diety of choice] forbid we just get on with our own lives -- grow a little, laugh a lot, learn, teach, love and whisper kind things to each other when the wind is still and the Earth is quiet.

Seems sometimes like everybody out to get us, we the ordinary people: big pharma, governments, Monsanto with his frankenfoods, crap in our water, fluoride and fake sugar killin' us, everybody's finger on the button, waiting for the politically justifiable provocation to send the big birds flying ........... and yet..........

There's a shine to the madness, and a peacefulness if you listen, like a cool breeze that passes over your sweaty brow after a hard day of working the land. It's the climate of human evolution, and like most weather it seems cyclical.

I'm not going to listen to the bray of TV pundits and the excited fear they infect us with. Nope. Not going to look sideways at the human tragedies that flash and engage us in their vicarious misery. These fearmongers need our participation, but we don't need theirs. WHAT WE ....

ALLLL NEEEED is the humble joy of helping someone who wasn't crying on CNN for it, but needed the help just the same, and we do it because it's the best of what we are, and what we might become.

These little drops of kindness radiate outward, far from our awareness of influence into a probability wave that sometimes......... sometimes is just enough to whet the stone of need....... and passion.

It's a wild ride, as we flit in and out of our quantum awareness of the collective and almost unconnected fabric of society. When did we get so far apart? When did people begin to feel so lonely and helpless to craft our world into something better?

Hurry up and WAIT? Nope. Laugh often, even/especially when there is little to laugh about. And........... while you're resting....... grow something and inflict a smile on someone who thinks they don't need it. Kick off your shoes. Get dirty.

See you in the woods, where the night eyes are bright and the soft sponginess of leaves make your steps quiet ... and we will watch the heavens dance.

Are we there yet?

Ogal says her tracking thingy shows that OB made it to the Caymans.

You may have some trouble getting OB out of the box, if there's bubble wrap in there. No exit until they're all popped!

Talking about boobies and wild things Bug, get a good tan at the Brac to show it off at the girls' wild sauna night in Finland :)

Goodness Crab, that blob over you has exploded. Hope you're safe, that's a lotta rain!

Nice close-up of you and da Bride. Stay safe!

Hiya, Crab!

Glad to see you back blogging a bit. Insightful post. There's a fine line between being rationallly aware and being afraid of your own shadow.

Showed Dad your entry while I was visiting this weekend for Father's Day. He got quite the kick out of seeing you utilize Pogo, which was always one of his favourite strips.

I see you and Ogal are plotting to get me down to the Brac. It's very nice of you and Da Bride to invite me but I warn ya: I can be a WILD WOMAN! We'll need to be sure we've got enough bail money on hand.

Though, I have to admit. Sitting on the shore, watching the boobies sounds interesting. I AM talking about the avian species; not topless bathers! LOL

Yep, good stuff :) Jamie liked it a lot too, he had never heard of her (thanks for clarifying the "she" though it makes no difference :) Been playing the song all day and it somewhat reminded me of another one I had completely missed... I'll just share the link to save big bytes...

Heya Finn!

'ppreciate the kind words. My ol' soapbox is pretty worn out, but still good for another standing now and then, as long as I tread upon it carefully.

LP -- Laura Pergolizzi; don't feel bad. She seems to enjoy and even bask in her perceived andryogony. I know that it's been a long time since I've heard a decent whistler in a song, and can't remember a female whistler at all (except maybe Gloria Wood, who was Marilyn Monroe's singing voice [and I presume whistling] in the movie River of No Return.)

Really like LP's range and style and the band is tight and eclectic. Haven't been able to find out their names as yet; seems like perhaps the mystery is fueling the intrigue of their success.

She's New York born, and is reported to have moved to L.A. She and the band have been featured in many articles in the S.F. Bay Area, so .........

LP, if you're reading, please keep up the good work and give us a link to your wonderful crew's bio!

Good stuff.

Thanks Fox ;o) As Mobal said, it's useful to remain vigilant... What was not so long ago considered 'fringe' seems to be more mainstream now. Part of this, I suppose, is due to the extreme amount (and quality of) information available in this electronic age. Immediate accessibility, but one has to crank down the aperature of their filter a bit, I think, or risk becoming overwhelmed.

Mobal.. LOL! It's a term of endearment.. you have that certain je ne sais whaque, to be able to entertain outlandish ideas without having to agree or disagree with them. I think we all have a little whackamole in us, and it's what keeps our thoughts young. I'd like to think so anyway ;>D

Looks like we have an invest near us. Really surprises me, with the dry air in the GOM and heavy shear here and north of us. Of course, I'm not a MET, and that's a good part of why I come here. Four inches of rain here last night, for a total of nine since Sunday. Grand Cayman taking a far worse hit, with more rain and precious little area to either absorb or runoff the water.

Having spent the day reorganizing our inside preps and building yet another shelf for canned goods, I'm gettin' cabin fever, and will probably be doing something silly today, like dump runs in the rain. Hey! That could be a decent c/w song, no?

Y'got me all torn uuuuuup
Y'got me spinnin' 'round
Thangs ain't quite the saaaame
I'm doin' dump runs........ in th' raaaain

twangity twang

note to self: Step AWAY from the espresso....

I finally had a moment to sit & quietly read & reflect on your blog. Your words ring so true.... I know people who have become so fearful that they no longer LIVE, instead they run for cover, hide while telling themselves "it's safe". Some Friends have moved away, they say the government is out to get them... The chemtrails, the food is poisoned, big brother is watching, they survive in the dark shadows of fear.
Living life can be difficult. Shit happens, we get hurt, the world seems crazy -- but we all make choices & often we can change our world by making a simple & conscious decision...
I choose to be happy & by making that simple decisive choice I find everyday to be a good day. Often times I have to remind myself, Life Is Good! There's a lot of living let in me & I want to experience it all! 😄
Roses have thorns, but they are still beautiful!

Ogal! Good deal. I remember Homer......another small, wonderful fishing town.

Quoting Barefootontherocks:
Hi crab,
Hope you and Bride are well.

It's a wild ride, as we flit in and out of our quantum awareness of the collective and almost unconnected fabric of society.
Sometimes vivid awareness of human society is not compatible with sanity.
:)

Saw that blobby over the Caymans mid-morning today. Almost looked like a trop cyclone forming. Not so much now but seems to be hanging out and dumping lots of rain. YOu guys take care today. Hope your islands don't get floody. Also mucho good hopes and wishes you soon complete Paloma recovery work (cistern, etc.) and that you'll have a safe 2012 hurricane season.

Well connected, Barefoot ;o) Blobby has been a little hairy the past few days -- well, for a thunderstorm. De big island got more than 8" on Monday alone....... reports of severe flooding. Five inches of rain since Sunday for us.

Pat, great movie......... one of those I can almost watch anytime.

Code! Dang, and I thought I was being stealthy ..... hard to camoflage the claws, tho

Mobal! We're on the same page. You know I'm at least as much of a whackamole as you are ...... ;p) ........ just seems like [many] folks I know and talk with have gone from being mostly unconcered with the quirkiness and patterns of the world to being immersed in it to the point that they sorta........ forget to LIVE!

Could also be a function of people feeling the need to "get caught up" on the preps they might've made years ago. People are confused, and scared and uncertain, and this time is not much different from other segments of the past in that regard, but eating and breathing doom is not gonna fill the void of uncertainty. Just my four cents, of course.

What about poetry and beauty and wonder? Surely there's a balance, and while I'm pretty damn certain I haven't completely struck it, I hope I always keep testing the edges of what makes a person happy.

It's a much more intense world for those with kids -- of that I'm sure, especially for you loving and responsible parents.

Heya! If you don't know LP, check out the video. Great song........ and........ hey, when's the last time you remember someone whistling in a song and it working? I really like the band too -- very intense musicians, it would seem.

Aside: If you haven't heard, there is a Wunderground Reunion scheduled -- Auburn's blog, 01 JUN 12. WOOT!

Shore! Good to see you too! Yep, the TeeVee just keeps pumping the doom at us; we know terrible things happen every day, and I don't doubt any one of us would step up to the plate (and have) when the doom hits on a level where we can contribute.. but lately it seems like doomporn and incidentally, reminds me of the song Vicarious by the band Tool. It's not that we don't care. It's that it doesn't do us any good to continually be immersed in the human suffering. That said, there are plenty of opportunities for the few dollars we can all rub together to truly help people around the world. I continue to believe that the many cumulative positive changes made locally ripple outward.

Snow! whatcha been doin' bub?? Yeah, EWF really sets the tone doesn't it? If a person needs Reasons to feel good, they just might have to concede that That's the Way of the World. You can't make it with EWF, you cain't make it.

Rays! I suspected you were lurking about :D Glad to see you're still about. Stubborn people like me that don't do Face/Twit/Space gotta keep connected, right?

Bug! I hear ya! Hauled seventeen bags of dust bunnies out of this place, and those were CONTRACTOR bags. WHOOF! I was thinkin' also about firin' up another episode of The Ongoing Adventures of Mookie, however, I decided to paint the roof instead. Interesting the things you see from the top of your roof when people think nobody is watchin'........

Pat! I'm going to need a lesson or two. Took me two hours to get the LP embed above done LOL!

Wabit! No, that wasn't me, that was somebody else. They looked like me, except their head wasn't nearly as shiny or purdy. If I had funnel ears, I could be the new brown shrek. :D

Great to see you all. m'Bride and me going through our pre-flight hurricane season checklist right now. Bride pulls trees with a comealong and I set the chokers. We just had 60 cu. yards of bush and old rotted coconut hauled off. Next week, I have to rebuild the second cistern cover (Paloma crushed it and only recently cut the tons of sea grape that fell on it). 17-year-old homemade shutters are still holding up well, but had to replace some hardware, and refit the viewing ports in the door shutters with new plexiglass.

Oh...... and........ *gulp* HOARDES of hurricanecrabs washed ashore on the south side yesterday. I used to think that the myth of my screen name was just that, until I realized that the crabs spawn elsewhere and drift on the steering currents. If you don't know this tale, it's local lore that touts when billions and billions of tiny land crabs wash ashore, there will be a hurricane that year. As FloridaCrackerGirl used to say... "DON'T PANIC!"

I remembers Pogo, and I remembers you, and I am happy as the proverbial clam to see you here. Yes, I am. I'm off in my corner writing tonight, trying to make a deadline, but I'll come back and give your words another read.

After one quick skim, I'll tell you this. Life's a whole lot better since I tossed out the teevee and stopped the newspaper. I don't have time or inclination for the nasty, the angry and the destructive any more. I'll give a little time to the irksome, though. I probably irk a few folks myself, so it seems the least I can do.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to wander off and get back to work. Sure is good to see you. Can you see me smiling?
