.. Stay away from Lake Michigan...
Lake Michigan will be a dangerous place for recreational
boaters... swimmers... kayakers... and thrill seekers tonight through
Saturday. Everyone is urged to stay away from the lake.
Bikers... joggers... and walkers should use extreme caution along
the Lakefront. Stay off of piers and break walls.
North winds will increase to 20 to 30 mph over Southern Lake
Michigan and nearby Lakeshore areas late tonight and continue
through Friday. Gusts to near 40 mph are possible Friday. Winds
will slowly diminish Friday night and Saturday. The strong winds
will generate waves of up to 10 to 14 feet Friday. In
addition... there will be a high risk for dangerous rip
currents... especially along the Indiana beaches.
Instability caused by unseasonably cool air moving over the very
Warm Lake water will also make waterspouts likely over Southern
Lake Michigan overnight into Friday morning. There will be
numerous lake effect showers and even a few thunderstorms.
The waterspout threat will diminish during the day Friday and
showers will be moving out by Friday night. But dangerous waves
and rip currents are likely to continue through Saturday. Anyone
looking forward to boating or going to the beach should wait until
Sunday... which will see partly sunny skies... light winds... .and
temperatures in the mid to upper 70s.

The Pacific Ring of Fire is bubbling in its northern regions... hope it isn't the precursor to a "big-un" !!
Cool and downright chilly here in Chicago. Sort of like your summer, Sandi.
But, clear skies and eventually it should warm up nicely today. Still a rip current warning out by Lake Michigan. Winds are calmer away from the Lake but still kicking out in the Lake and the waves won't subside for a while. It was fierce yesterday with 10 ft wave heights.
Major, major back attack yesterday for me (it is possibly digestive fAnyway, the pain radiates to my back.
Still recovering but at least I am able to walk today with a little less pain.
The list of foods I cannot have is just awful. No coffee, no milk/milk products, no whole grain yet, no no no no no no NOTHING. I basically drink broth. But I'll tell you - I am scared of the pain so I do it. Hopefully when this flare up is over, I can begin gradually to figure out if food is the issue. We (Dr. and I) are working on it. Never have had any kind of chronic illness before, so this really stinks. And, omg is there a lot of garbage on the internet when trying to research these matters. Jus sayin. Ok rant off.
Have a great Saturday.
Hope you are feeling better this eve.
I see some rain on your regional radar. This is good.
Olympics over now. But gosh, some good moments. Who doesn't love Missy Franklin? The athlete I watched all through and was so happy for, Louis Smith of Great Britain. If a man can be stunning, he is when he's on that pommel horse.
So many good twists and turns in this year's games. What an experience and lifelong memory for all the athletes to take home with them!
:)

Watching the show for the close. Have tears (maybe cause it's been a really indescribable week) but the music actually is amazing and so is the close of this magical time. The 2012 Olympics were just --WoW!--
Teardrop...it was awesome.
Wild!
Felt the world rock!! Oh Yes!
Oh crud, now time for the protocol. Shoot. Take me back Clarence to the Rock n Roll Olympics Britain just put on!
Very good show!
And what a time to be Harry! It is a beautiful time. Thanks Great Britain and on to Rio in the future.
Congrats to the US women who really ran away with the show in these olympics.
Glad to see on your blog the storms didn't cause much damage. (Except maybe white caps in the mall parking lot, whew!)
Not much new here, it was a rainy, over-cast, humid, but chilly day. Hard to believe these temps in August are cooler then our temps in April! LOL Too weird. Very pretty sunset tonight. Certain someone had to capture it for WU. I was working and couldn't. Hope someone did.
Off for the night, tomorrow should clear up and be a really beautiful day--stay well all ships.
oops forgot to post my catfish I caught yesterday off the boat right in the marina. Niiice. Hubby caught one which was three times the size (the head was huge!) but it snapped the line! Darnit. These were a lot more fun than the drum fish we've been catching lately in the bay. Usually don't even go for catfish. Strange thing is, the carp who usually hang around in the marina waters have disappeared this summer. Maybe they died in the high temps of the water? ok ramble ramble again...night all
The PM actaully gave a short speech today to thank the 10's of thousands of volunteers who gave up two weeks of their summer to help with the smooth running of the games, and the security firm who drafted in the army at the last cry to help out with security, have donated £1.5 million to the army benevolent fund!
So, all in all - a 'Great Success' on the sports' field and off, so to speak :-)
Anyway looks like a real strong cold front headed your way early next week.yep, cold fronts are going to start getting stronger as we head toward labor day.
New blog soon. Tonight probably. Off to the rat race.
Oh--I forgot the weather. It's really beautiful here in Chiland today. Fog in the outlying areas burned off. Nice day expected. (We'll gladly take cold fronts after this summer!)
Have a good Tuesday!
